Chapter 7

Kya had been sitting around in a bad mood for the past couple of months. She hadn’t heard from Mykell since the day she got into it with Reneice at the store. She couldn’t believe he was throwing everything that they had, all the years, all the love away for someone who just popped up. It seemed like all the years she invested went down the drain. She tried everything to make him see that she was the one for him, but it was all in vain. She decided to put her plan B in motion. She pulled out her phone and sent a simple text.

Kya: It’s about that time

Unknown: Say no more

She sat back and smiled, she was sure that she would get her man back.

Ever since Christmas, Reneice had been walking around on a natural high that she didn’t want to come down from any time soon. She had her brother back, the man of her dreams, and the perfect son that she loved dearly. Everything was going right for once in her life and she couldn’t be happier.

Since she and Mykell were engaged, she moved in with him officially and let her brother have the house she used to live in. She was over at Ramones house watching movies and hanging out like they used to do when they were little. They were watching one of their favorite movies, The Five Heartbeats. Ramone was proud of the woman that his sister was becoming. She was smart, beautiful, independent, and determined to do something with her life. Even though she was a little rough around the edges with her temper and she fought, she was still classy.

Reneice got off the couch and stretched “I better get home to my man and son.”

“I been meaning to ask you, does little man ever see his mom or does she ever come around?” Ramone asked concerned.

“Nope, all I know is that Pop-Pop took MJ away from his mom when he was 9 months old and kept him until Mykell got out of prison. Other than that I don’t think he’s seen his mother since, and that was five years ago.”

“Well I’m happy that you’re stepping up and filling that void he feels.”

“It’s nothing, I loved him before me and Mykell got together and I’ll love him if we don’t work out for some reason. Now let me get out of here and get to my other two favorite men."

She hugged her brother and headed for the door in her new Beamer. She stopped at the gas station to get some gas before heading home. She went inside to pick up some snacks and get MJ’s favorite candy, skittles. She was about to head to the line to pay for the things when her phone rang, she smiled because she knew it was Mykell; his ringtone was ‘Run Tha Streetz’ by Tupac.

“Hey baby,” she answered

“Hey ma, where you at?”

“I’m on my way home, I had to stop by the gas station," she replied

“You pumping gas at night? You know I don’t like that,” Mykell said concerned.
